Water, Sanitation and Physical Infrastructure
- Water, Sanitation and Physical Infrastructure
In northern Kenya, arid conditions, recurrent drought, and limited infrastructure continue to constrain access to safe water and adequate sanitation. Many communities depend on unreliable or distant water sources, while inadequate sanitation facilities and low levels of hygiene awareness contribute to the spread of preventable diseases and poor health outcomes.

Addressing these challenges requires an integrated approach that combines the development and rehabilitation of boreholes and sustainable water systems with improved sanitation facilities at household and community levels. Strengthening community infrastructure further enhances access to essential services, while targeted hygiene promotion initiatives encourage behavior change and reduce health risks.
These interventions collectively aim to improve access to clean water, enhance sanitation and hygiene practices, and build healthier, more resilient communities capable of sustaining long-term development gains.
