Gender Equality and Human Rights Advocacy

In northern Kenya, deeply rooted social norms, economic vulnerabilities, and limited access to justice continue to shape unequal power dynamics, particularly affecting women and marginalized groups. Many women face restricted opportunities for economic participation, low decision-making power, and heightened exposure to gender-based violence, often compounded by limited awareness of their rights and weak access to legal support systems.

Within this context, targeted social inclusion programming is essential to foster safer, more equitable communities. Efforts center on empowering women through skills development and leadership opportunities, while strengthening community-led approaches to prevent and respond to gender-based violence. At the same time, increasing rights awareness and access to legal empowerment enables individuals—especially women and girls—to claim their rights, seek protection, and participate more fully in social and economic life.

Together, these interventions contribute to transforming harmful norms, promoting dignity and equality, and building resilient communities where all individuals can thrive.

These interventions collectively aim to improve access to clean water, enhance sanitation and hygiene practices, and build healthier, more resilient communities capable of sustaining long-term development gains.
