ISKA operates in northern Kenya in regions characterized by relatively improving literacy levels, yet still facing significant challenges such as high school dropout rates and persistent gender disparities in education. Educational performance in these areas is constrained by a shortage of qualified teachers, limited access to quality learning resources, and insufficient school improvement initiatives.

To address these gaps, ISKA focuses on strengthening teacher capacity through targeted professional development, promoting girls’ education to enhance gender parity, and expanding access to alternative and non-formal education opportunities for out-of-school children. These interventions aim to improve learning outcomes, increase school retention, and create a more inclusive and equitable education system in the region.
